Chicago Community Leadership Internship Consortium

Please note: The Chicago School Community Leadership Internship Consortium was recently APPIC accredited. We have extended our dates for internship applications for the 2010 - 2011 internship year. Please see the APPIC website listing under The Chicago School of Professional Psychology for details.

To ameliorate the internship shortage that currently exists in psychology, The Chicago School has partnered with community agencies to offer an internship consortium. This program will not only provide high quality internship training, but it will also promote community engagement and partnership and offer accessible services to underserved constituents in the community.

Building upon partnerships with Chicago area community agencies and organizations, The Chicago School Community Leadership Internship Consortium (CLIC) offers a 12-month, full-time pre-doctoral internship, consistent with a practitioner-scholar approach, that focuses on community-based clinical practice, and that prepares graduates for leadership roles in community agencies or organizations. The primary goals of the training program are to offer specialty training working with underserved and diverse populations, facilitate opportunities for continued growth in clinical service provision, and expose participants to the social, economic, and other organizational and contextual issues that impact community-based work.

The consortium training model enables interns to gain exposure not only to their primary training sites, but also to the environment of each of the participating sites. Interns attend trainings and workshops at each of the sites, and participate in weekly cohort activities that allow for the sharing of knowledge and experiences across sites. Additionally, the consortium model provides agencies and institutions the opportunity to network and share knowledge and provides interns with a more diverse and comprehensive training experience with exposure to multiple settings and populations.
