The John Benitez Scholarship will go toward advancing the relationship between The Chicago School and Erie Neighborhood House. The Scholarship will provide funds to help further the education of current and former Erie Youth who express both the ability and the interest in pursuing a career in psychology or related fields.

About Dr. John Benitez

Associated with The Chicago School since 1987, Dr. Benitez is the clinical director at Erie Neighborhood House — a Chicago School practicum site — which serves Latino youth and their families. Dr. Benitez consults with the Department of Children and Family Services, Clinical Division, where he collaborates with caseworkers and supervisors on the issues of psychological testing and best clinical practices. In addition, he maintains a clinical and consulting practice. His interests include issues related to clergy and mental health, supervision and mentorship, diversity, empowerment, and advocacy.
