Our Mission Statement
The California Graduate Student Association (CGSA) exists to meet the needs and serve the interests of all students at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in California. Recognizing that students’ needs and interests go beyond the academic environment, CGSA is committed to addressing various aspects of the student experience including personal and professional development, information resources, and social outlets. CGSA advocates mutual respect and inclusion in support of students’ educational goals, occupational development, and community engagement.
CGSA does not discriminated on the basis of age, sex, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, or sexual orientation. Membership in CGSA is open to all students in good standing at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in California.
Our Purpose
This organization seeks to improve the quality of student life for students of The Chicago School through academic, social and professional events that contribute to their holistic development. CGSA is here to serve The Chicago School of Professional Psychology students by:
a. Fostering a spirit of cooperation and unity amongst all departments by maintaining a centralized calendar of activities
b. Providing programs to enhance the students’ social, recreational and cultural development
c. Providing opportunities of intellectual development for students and student organizations as deemed necessary or appropriate while maintaining contact with faculty to produce conferences and other events
d. Reviewing, enforcing and making recommendations of policies and procedures to the appropriate departments
e. Giving students the opportunity to maintain and enhance their leadership skills
f. Encouraging communication with other universities and professional schools including but not limited to sending delegates to local, state, regional, and national conferences
g. Maintaining representation to the administration on behalf of the student body
h. Spending and maintaining funds for the needs of the student body.
i. Building campus community and providing opportunities for students to voice concerns
j. Informing students of CGSA activities and other related events/programming.
