Meet Your Cabinet!

PRESIDENT

Shanon Harmon

Hello TCSPP student body, my name is Shanon Harmon and I am in the PsyD Business Psychology program. My hometown is Bolivar, NY (a small town south of Buffalo). I have extensive interests such as the outdoors (e.g., camping, snow skiing, water skiing, white water rafting, skydiving), traveling (e.g., Paris, San Salvador, St. Petersburg, Moscow), and professional growth (e.g., conferences, seminars). As far as my education, I have a M.A. in Clinical Psychology and M.A. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. My involvement at TCSPP has been extensive, such as the 2011-12 CGSA Vice President, Student Ambassador, and a member of the Business Interest Group. I am well prepared to serve as your president and lead the 2012-13 CGSA Executive Board. My past experience in leadership positions has allowed me to gain the necessary skills to be an effective leader. For example, I have led an Orientation Executive Committee, representing a nationally recognized orientation program, where we helped students transition into college. I have also participated in several leadership positions (e.g., president, vice president) in various clubs and organizations throughout my undergraduate and graduate programs. In my last graduate program, I participated in the Graduate Student Association, where we ran programs and events for graduate students to encourage student involvement on and off campus. As the 2012-13 CGSA President, I intend to continue, with the help of the new board members, the progress and success that the 2011-12 CGSA Executive members have made throughout this past year. We will continue to create professional development opportunities for current students, provide social events for students, and increase student involvement in TCSPP events. For this upcoming year, we will support our Campus President to increase awareness of diversity by bringing in speakers and hosting events with the collaboration of other clubs and departments (e.g., TCSPP departments, Academic departments, Student Interest Groups, Recognized Student Organizations).  CGSA is here to serve the student body and we encourage you to share your ideas and opinions with us. Your participation is welcome and we hope to see all of you at the CGSA events! Thank you very much!President responsibilities include but not limited to:

I moved to Irvine in August and up until then I had only ever lived in Las Vegas, Nevada. It's probably not as exciting as you are imagining, but it is my home and I do miss it. In Nevada, I received my BA in Psychology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

My professional goal is to transition into the Post-Master's PsyD program and work with children with developmental disabilities. I am hoping that my involvement with CGSA
will help me get there. During my term I would also like to get plugged into my new community, gain more leadership experience, and simply like to give something back to my community. I hope to fulfill these goals by establishing contacts throughout the community, as well as helping to plan and create programs and events that students can take part in. For fun I enjoy singing and playing guitar, though I admit finding time to do so is tough. I also enjoy reading, writing, and exercising.
