Stigma and Social Exclusion of LGBT Latino Population Workshop (Chicago)


This workshop is sponsored by The Naomi Ruth Cohen Institute for Mental Health Education (NRCI) and The Center for Latino Mental Health.

Dr. Toro-Alfonso is a clinical psychologist, professor and researcher in the Department of Psychology, Rio Piedras Campus University of Puerto Rico. Dr. Toro-Alfonso has held and played many important roles with the Interamerican Psychological Society (SIP) in Puerto Rico. He is currently the President-elect of the SIP for the period of 2011-2013. He has published over fifty articles in peer-reviewed journals and international journals, and  has published five books

How will this workshop help me?
  • Learn about issues in the Latino culture that prevent inclusion of the LGBT populations
  • Identify the impact of stigma within the LGBT Latino community
