Meet the Next President of The Chicago School of Professional Psychology …
Earlier this afternoon, our national search to find the next president of The Chicago School of Professional Psychology reached a conclusion. I am privileged and honored to formally announce that the Board of Trustees has named Dr. Michele Nealon-Woods as the school’s new leader and successor to President Michael Horowitz.
Our decision was unanimous and an affirmation of the experience and commitment of an individual who has served The Chicago School mission for more than 15 years as a graduate, faculty member, department chair, and most recently, campus president. Dr. Nealon-Woods will immediately begin working with Dr. Horowitz and the Office of the President in preparation for formally beginning her tenure on July 1.
I wish to thank all of you who participated in the search process. It was lead by a representative committee of faculty, student, alumni, and staff delegates and co-chaired by Trustees Edward Bergmark and George Mitchell, whom himself is a past president of TCSPP. More than three dozen potential candidates were identified and evaluated with the three finalists each participating in an open forum that was broadcast across the country and posted on the school’s website. Your feedback throughout this process was appreciated and played an important part in our final decision.
As the eighth president of TCSPP, Dr. Nealon-Woods will be the voice of a national organization that is a recognized leader in professional education and an advocate for expanding psychology’s benefits to more people and communities.
Welcoming a new leader though means that we must also acknowledge those who have gone before. Speaking on behalf of the board, I offer our sincere appreciation to President Horowitz for his 10 years of outstanding service to The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. His vision and resolute faith in our mission will continue to have a profound impact on the future direction of the school for many years to come. We wish him best success in his new endeavor as the president and CEO of TCS Education System.
As for President-elect Nealon-Woods, I am confident that The Chicago School is in capable and passionate hands, and its forward momentum as a great institution is assured. Please join me in congratulating her on this new and exciting opportunity.
