Dr. Michael Fogel, chair of the Department of Forensic Psychology, was elected this summer to the American Board of Forensic Psychology (ABFP) Board of Directors. As part of his responsibilities, Dr. Fogel will focus on credentialing ABFP applicants and assisting to define the standards and qualifications for those who practice in the field of forensic psychology. He joins an esteemed group of experts in the field serving on the board.

“I am very honored and humbled by my recent election to the ABFP Board,” said Dr. Fogel. “Board certification in Forensic Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology is a goal all forensic psychologists should aspire to achieve. It is an established credential that signifies a high level of professional competence and protects consumers of forensic psychological services.”

Established in 1978, ABFP (also referred to as the “Forensic Board”) awards the Diploma in Forensic Psychology to those psychologists who satisfactorily complete the requirements for achieving Specialty Board Certification in forensic psychology.
