Community Members Turn Out at NAMI Rally in the Loop
Members of The Chicago School community united on May 5 for an outdoor rally at the Thompson Center in downtown Chicago to lend their voices for more mental health funding in Illinois. They joined hundreds of others, many holding “Treatment Works” signs, at the event sponsored by NAMI (National Alliance for the Mentally Ill) of Greater Chicago.
Advocates signed petitions to encourage elected officials to invest in the recovery of thousands of persons with mental illnesses by increasing revenues to the Department of Mental Health, the Department of Alcohol and Substance Abuse, and mental health community providers.
Students will again join NAMI of Greater Chicago for this cause in September for the NAMI Walks Chicago for the Minds of America. Click here for more information.
